South Kashmir Inter-college Kabaddi Tournament Organised By GDC Qazigund Concluded.

Under the aegis of UT Foundation Day The final match of the Tournament was played today on 31st of October,2023 The Inaugural match of the tournament was played on 09th of October between GDC Bijbehara and GDC Kulgam. A total of Eight Teams from different south- Kashmir Colleges participated in this League Tournament. The first semi-final was played on 27th of October between GDC Kulgam and GDC Dooru wherein GDC Kulgam- the defending Champions won the match and qualified for finals and second Semi-Final was played on 28th of October between GDC Dooru and GDC Mattan wherein GDC Mattan defeated GDC Dooru and qualified for Finals. The final match of this tournament was played Today on 31st of October 2023 between GDC Kulgam and GDC Mattan. Prof, Syed Javid Hussain- Principal GDC Uterssu Was the Chief Guest ,Prof. G.R Verma- Principal of the Host College and Prof. Mohd Amin Malik- Principal GDC Mattan were the Guests of Honor in the Final match of the Tournament. At the outset of the event, formal welcome address was presented by Prof. Showkat Ahmad Malik, HOD Education to all the dignitaries, participants, officials and students present on the occasion. He also highlighted the importance of sports activities for maintaining a healthy and peaceful life. Principal Prof. G.R. Verma and Prof. Mohd Maqbool Pala formally received the guests by presenting them the mementos as a token of love. Principal Prof. G.R. Verma in his address deliberated on the significance of games and sports for health and well-being of an individual. Thereafter the match was kick-started by the Chief Guest Prof. Syed Javid Hussain, Guests of Honor Prof. Mohd Amin Malik along with the worthy Principal of the host college Prof. G.R. Verma and Prof. Mohmmad Maqbool Pala. The match was finally won by GDC Kulgam by a margin of 09 points and defended the Title consecutively second time. At the end, a felicitation ceremony was held. In the ceremony the players of both the teams were felicitated with Medals by the Chief Guest ,Guest of Honor along with Principal and other faculty members.Winners Trophy was presented to GDC Kulgam and Runners- Up Trophy was presented to GDC Mattan by the the dignitaries on the ocassion.Rakeeb Ahmad Wani -Captain of GDC Kulgam Team was adjudged as man of the series and was felicitated with the memento for his outstanding performance. Moreover, the officials of the tournament deployed by District Youth services and Sports Department Kulgam were also felicitated with mementos by the dignitaries for officiating the Tournament in a quite professional, Transparent and hassle -free manner.
