Brief Information About the College:
Govt. Degree College Qazigund was established in 2019 with erstwhile Gateway to Kashmir, a JK Tourism Facility, as its campus. The first batch of 50 students was admitted in March 2020. The enrollment was low because of the onset of Covid-19 Pandemic. The magnificent campus of this college is situated at NH-44 Levdora, Qazigund and is spread over the area of 35 Kanals. In addition to existing infrastructure, a multistorey college building is under construction. At present, the College offers different courses in the discipline of Arts. From the academic session 2020-21 onwards and till date, teaching of different subjects like English, Education, Sociology, Urdu, Political Science, physical Education and Environmental Science is being imparted to the students.
Special features of the area where the college is located:
Qazigund, also known as Gateway to Kashmir, is a town in union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, India. Qazigund is located at 33.59°N 75.16°E. It has an average elevation of 1670 m (5478 feet) above mean sea level. Qazigund is connected by NH-44 & Northern Railways with rest of the Country. Qazigund railway tunnel or Pir Panjal Railway Tunnel, is 11 km long under the Pir Panjal mountains to connect Qazigund railway station to Banihal railway station It is India's longest and Asia's third longest railway tunnel and reduced the distance between Qazigund and Banihal to only 11 km. Panzath, Qazigund is known for its springs. Panzath in Kashmiri means 500. The area has 500 springs. These springs not only provide potable water to a vast population but irrigate hundreds of hectares of land as well.
Admission Policy:
The admission to the college is regulated by the affiliating university till academic session 2022-23. Thereafter admission to the college, and to all other colleges, is been governed by National Testing Agency (NTA) through Common University Entrance Test (CUET)

The college has a rich library of more than 5400 books. A browsing center, a reading room and a reference section make part of this library. Financial aid and scholarship. Career counselling. Students Gym etc.
Scholarships:
The college provides financial support to the students from categories like Orphan, Broken Family, Handicapped, AAY etc out of relevant head of its Local Fund. The college also facilitates aspirants of various scholarship schemes offered by the UT as well as Central government.

An intake of 80 students for each major subject is sanctioned by the Higher Education JKUT

The college has well qualified staff to impart desired education in subjects. In addition, the Staff also engages students in Co-curricular/Extra-curricular activities.
