To celebrate the World Red Cross Day, Red Ribbon Club and NSS unit of Govt, Degree College Qazigund organized a symposium and a painting competition on the theme “Keeping Humanity Alive. The programme was organized under the patronage of the worthy Principal, Prof.G.R.Verma on 08-05-2024. Addressing the audience on the occasion, the Principal spoke about the importance of the Red Cross and volunteer work for service of humanity. He also encouraged the students to actively participate in various activities and events organized by the college.
The programme featured speeches by enthusiastic students who deliberated on various issues such as historical overview of World Red Cross Day, its seven fundamental principles etc. The students chose different languages such as English, Urdu and Kashmiri to communicate their ideas. Prof. Nehad Kaniz Fatima, the program coordinator, echoed the significance of the Red Cross Movement, advocating for student involvement in crisis assistance efforts. Later, the painting competition ensued, showcasing students' artistic interpretations of the theme. The jury comprising of Prof.Aufaq Ahmad Zargar (Co-ordinator Red Ribbon Club), Prof. Showkat Ahmad Malik (NSS Programme Officer) adjudicated the competition, and Zubair Ahmad Sheikh, Sahila Jan and Munaza Shafiq were declared the 1st, 2nd , and 3rd winners respectively.. A felicitation ceremony honored all participants with certificates, marking the event's success in fostering awareness and appreciation for the Red Cross and volunteerism.
