Report on Swachhta Pakhwada Pledge and Painting Competition:
The NSS Unit of GDC Qazigund, in collaboration with the Departments of English and EVS, organized a
programme under the aegis of “Swachhta Pakhwada Program”. The event commenced with opening
remarks from the esteemed Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Gh. Hassan Thakur, who addressed the audience on the
significance of maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in our surroundings. He emphasized that students
should apply their college learning practically by avoiding littering.
Faculty members, including Prof. Aufaq Ahmad Zargar (HOD Computer Science), Prof. Showkat Ahmad
Malik (NSS Coordinator and HOD Education), Prof. Rameez Ahmad Shah (HOD Environmental
Science), and Prof. Nehad Kaniz Fatima (HOD English), reiterated the importance of students dedicating
themselves to the cause of maintaining clean surroundings. The programme concluded with the
“Swachhta Pledge” taken jointly by the Principal, staff, and students to propagate the message of Swachh
Bharat.
Later, a painting competition was also held, wherein students presented their talent. The competition's
theme focused on India's journey to independence, providing students with a platform to express their
appreciation and joy for the nation's freedom through their artwork. Their paintings vividly reflected their
happiness and pride, clearly resonating with the spirit of independence. The event celebrated India's
independence while encouraging students to express their patriotism through art.
Overall, the pledge-taking ceremony and painting competition were highly successful, fostering
patriotism and unity among the students while celebrating India's independence.
